Leadership Lee's Summit, established in 1991 by the
Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce and Longview
Community College, was developed to motivate the
visionary leaders of the area. It's an intense
nine-month program where participants gather
knowledge and skills to become great leaders in the
community.
Each year, approximately 25 participants are
selected based on strict criteria. The criteria
include motivation and interest to serve in Lee's
Summit, potential or existing opportunities for
advancement to top leadership positions, willingness
to commit time and energy to complete the program,
and full support of the corporation/organization
that is represented. Throughout the year,
participants attend day long sessions on leadership
skills, business and government issues, and the
history and culture of Lee's Summit.
The goal of Leadership Lee's Summit is to accentuate
our participants' confidence, knowledge, leadership
and interpersonal skills to become distinguished
dignitaries in our community. Leadership Lee's
Summit is in session from September through May,
with a two-day retreat for the first session and
then the second Wednesday of each month after that.
Graduation is held in May. |
